STEWARDSHIP
Stewardship literally means “the job of supervising or taking care of something”. When it comes to our church, we believe that we “give” stewardship, but in all actuality, we should “take” stewardship of the Annunciation. We need to watch over it. We need to take care of it. We need to nurture it. The church needs us as much as we need it. Our job as parishioners and as stewards is to “take care” of our church, like it has taken care of us.

“To the Dreams, Sacrifices and Dedication”
This year, we are celebrating “the dreams, sacrifices and dedication” of all members of the Annunciation community – past and present – who had the courage to secure and expand our shared dreams to promote Orthodoxy and Hellenism in the Sacramento area.

Did you know?

  • In late 1920, the first regular elections of Trustees of the Greek Community of Sacramento were held.

  • By May 1921, Thee Trustees of the Greek Community of Sacramento, led by Nick Gikas, decided to proceed with the building of the N Street Annunciation Church. The first assigned priest, Rev. George Sardounis, was appointed.

  • The cornerstone of the church was laid in November 1921, and the very first Divine Liturgy was celebrated on a very cold day (38.5 degrees) on Christmas Day of 1921.
As part of our centennial celebrations, our 100th Anniversary Committee is planning two celebratory events:
In addition to our two celebratory events, we are preparing a commemorative 100th Anniversary Album to convey the history of our Church, its parochial and fraternal organizations and our wonderful parish community. We have come a long way from our humble beginnings, and it is exactly this journey that we plan to cover in our 100th Anniversary Album.

We’ve extended our submission deadline for parishioners, and there is still time to get your content for the Album turned in to our team. The final deadline to share your story and photos or your individual photo is August 1, 2021.

The commemorative 100th Anniversary Album will be released and available for purchase in early 2022.
